This was an event organised by the United Reform Church in Bramhall, Cheshire in order to raise funds for the Eyeline Institute for the Blind. It was a major event with musicians from the Royal Northern College, bell ringers and various choirs. It was a full house of at least 180 people and we were told that everyone was keenly anticipating our performance. After all belly dance in the Church was somewhat a novel concept! Even the Lord Mayor of Stockport (shown with the ceremonial chain in pictures below) didn't just make a cursory quick visit at the start but instead stayed for the entire Sat night show. We subsequently received a really glowing letter of thanks from the Eyeline Institute. It is things like this that will elevate the status of Belly Dance to a serious Art Form.
